Built in the Victorian era (1883), it is the only grand hotel of its kind, with striking Victorian architecture. A few doors away is the Princess Theatre, with gardens and parks just across. Parliament Train Station is located beneath the hotel, and tram stops flank its sides, making it a convenient point of access for the city's attractions including the National Gallery of Victoria, the Melbourne Museum, Royal Exhibition Building, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
