Located on the grounds of historic Oak Alley Plantation between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, these turn-of-the-century Creole cottages are situated near the antebellum home. Tastefully furnished and cheerfully decorated with quaint country charm, some of the cottages offer antique brass or rice-carved beds, claw-footed bathtubs, and wooden floors. The absence of telephones and televisions enhances the peaceful, serene setting of this rural plantation. Easy walking distance of the antebellum mansion, alley of 300 year-old oaks, and restaurant/gift shop. Outdoor activities include sightseeing and nature walks. New Orleans is sixty miles from Vacherie. NOTE: Cottages 5A & 5B welcome adult only guests. No children under the age of 18 are allowed. Oak Alley's restaurant is not open in the evening for overnight guests to have dinner. While there are restaurants located within 10 to 15 miles of the plantation, they are not open daily. On Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, the closest restaurant that is open is 30 minutes away. If you prefer to relax and stay in, you can arrange to have a pre-prepared dinner brought to your cottage. You can either email or call the plantation or go to their website (oakalleyplantation.com) to place your order under the evening meals tab. Oak Alley will prepare the food the day of arrival and deliver it to your cottage by 4pm. All food is placed in your fridge and packaged to be heated up in their room, at your convenience. Food orders will be charged to your personal credit card upon check-in. Food orders must be placed any time in advance of 2pm the day before your arrival. LATE CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Guests arriving 4:30pm and later will find an envelope with their name on it in the white mailbox hanging on the gate of the entrance to the historic site. This envelope will contain their key, a map and instructions . Directions to the cottage are marked on the map, and a binder with important information will be available inside the cottage..
