Casa de São Lourenço - Burel Panorama Hotel, opened in 2018, is the only 5-star mountain hotel in Portugal, located at an altitude of 1, 250 meters. It offers panoramic views of the mountain, the glacial valley, and the village of Manteigas. The hotel features 17 distinct rooms and 4 suites, each with panoramic views and decorated with burel fabrics and designer pieces. All accommodations offer private balconies and access to a garden featuring native plant species. The restaurant, with its large windows showcasing the mountain range, focuses on Portuguese cuisine. Fresh, seasonal mountain ingredients are highlighted, enhanced by the chef's innovative approach while retaining authentic flavors. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. Guests can relax in the heated indoor pool filled with pure spring water and enjoy the stunning scenery. It connects to an outdoor pool nestled in a mountain-view garden. The Mountain Spa provides signature treatments and rituals, complemented by the fresh mountain air and breathtaking views. The wellness area includes a sauna and a Turkish bath, both with mountain views and garden access. More than 250km of marked trails for trekking and mountain biking extend from the hotel, offering guided and self-guided exploration of untouched landscapes, peaks, valleys, historic villages, and unique mountain heritage. In the summer, guests can swim in the warm waters of nearby lagoons, explore them by kayak, and discover the mountain's rivers. The hotel offers daily guided tours to the Burel Factory, a heritage wool factory where 19th-century looms produce woolen goods, blankets, and burel—a traditional Portuguese fabric dating back to the 11th century.
