Originally opened as Fonda España in 1859 and later reimagined by renowned architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner alongside celebrated artists such as Eusebi Arnau and Ramon Casas, the hotel has witnessed the evolution of Barcelona and the countless stories that have shaped its unique character.

Today, a new vision by acclaimed interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán brings this remarkable heritage into the present. A thoughtful reinterpretation where Modernism meets Neo-Deco, elegance embraces intrigue, and every space invites guests to experience a different side of Barcelona—more authentic, more intimate, and vibrantly alive.

The hotel's 82 rooms are the final chapter of this journey: peaceful sanctuaries designed for rest after a day immersed in the city. Fonda España, our signature restaurant, pays tribute to the great traditional *fonda* of Spain through a culinary concept led by renowned chef Martín Berasategui. Under the direction of Executive Chef Edu Rodas, the restaurant celebrates ingredient-led cuisine with contemporary sensibility, refined technique, and deep respect for the finest local produce.
