Tradition holds that King Alfonso I 'The Catholic' constructed this building on February 21, 746, and excavations conducted during the hotel's refurbishment seem to confirm this. A monastery, run by the Order of San Benito until 1835, once stood on this site. Two rooms display pottery and other archaeological remains discovered during renovations, testaments to this rich history. The Cangas de Onís town center is approximately 1. 5 km away, and Oviedo-Avilés Airport is about 95 km away.
